Collie Club of Maryland History

 

 

 

 

 

The Collie Club of Maryland (CCMD), a non-profit corporation since 1954, was one of the first organized clubs to be recognized by the Collie Club of America.  The club's objectives and purposes are to associate and bring together those persons interested in the Collie dog by

  1. Acquiring and disseminating knowledge and appreciation of the breed;

  2. Encouraging and  promoting ownership, care, breeding, exhibition, and training of purebred, AKC-registered Collies;

  3. Establishing and maintaining high standards of excellence in Collie breeding, showing, sale, and stud fee application;

  4. Holding meetings, lectures, shows, and exhibitions for the promotion and accomplishment of the foregoing objects and purposes, and

  5. To do such other things as may be in the best interests of Collies and members of the CCMD.

In 1962, the Collie Club of Maryland was proud to be the host of the Collie Club of America National Specialty.  With Mrs. William H. Long judging, Ch. Stoneykirk Reflection went Best of Breed, Ch. Maylone Welcome Reflection - Best of Opposite Sex, Best of Winners and Winners Dog was claimed by Ch. Cyn Sans Signet, and Ch. Echo Hill High Hope went Winners Bitch.  The CCMD has held 68 specialty shows
